You don’t need a fancy camera for a great profile photo. Your phone is enough. This is the simple setup I use myself. Both are inexpensive, light, and easy to pack.

Ring Light
For evenings, dark rooms, or cloudy days. It puts soft light right on your face and gets rid of the shadows under your eyes.
Three Quick Tips
- Try window light first. Face the window, and save the ring light for when the light is gone.
- Set the phone at eye level, about an arm and a half away.
- Use the 3-second or 10-second timer and take a lot of shots. You only need one good one.
